Case Report

AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal is a periodical publication that provides comprehensive information on the theoretical and applied areas of Clinical Psychology to researchers and practitioners. The primary mission of AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal is to enrich the psychology-based literature in our country, to advance and expand the level of knowledge on Clinical Psychology topics directly or with an interdisciplinary perspective. In this journey, the journal is also aimed to increase the quality and sharing/dissemination of studies that will support the clinical psychology practices and evaluations conducted in our country by taking a broad perspective.

With the aforementioned objectives, AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal accepts original articles from various subfields of psychology and social sciences, particularly clinical psychology, which contain discussions and/or suggestions regarding clinical research and practices, and encompassing the literature of the psychology field. There are no restrictions on the method and methodology of these articles; both qualitative and quantitative methods are accepted. The types of studies included in AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal are theoretical reviews (preferably supported by case studies), research articles (conducted with quantitative or qualitative research methods), work of art reviews (films, books, music, theater, etc.), and case presentations.

ARTICLE TYPES

Within the scope of AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal, articles are published in the following types: theoretical review (preferably supported by a case study), research articles, work of art reviews (films, books, music, theater, etc.), and case presentations.
In the articles to be published in our journal, in addition to the international literature, it is recommended to include existing studies in the Turkish literature on the subject, and in this context, to review the past issues of AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal.

Articles sent for evaluation should be organized as indicated below:

Theoretical Review: Articles of this type are review articles that contribute to clinical psychology studies and practices within the framework of psychology theories in all fields of psychology. Strengthening the articles with case presentations is also preferable.
Research Article: These are articles conducted using quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, and they include sections on literature review, study purpose and importance, methodology, findings, and discussion.
Work of Art Review: These articles examine works such as films, books, music, theater, etc., within the framework of psychological theories.
Case Presentation: These are articles that focus on the psychotherapy process, case characteristics, and recommendations for clinical practice. It is recommended to be careful while presenting demographic and specific information of the cases to maintain confidentiality.

ARTICLE WRITING FORMAT

The text should be written in 12-point Times New Roman font and double-spaced. The page number should be added to the upper right corner, with the title page as the first page. Articles should consist of the following sections:

1. Cover Page
2. Full Text
a. Turkish Abstract and Keywords
b. English Abstract and Keywords
c. Main Text
d. Tables and Figures
e. References
f. Extended English Summary

Each section should be started on a new page. The structure to be followed while writing the sections is specified below:

1. Cover Page: It includes a short title, main title, author, and institution information of the author(s). After the names and surnames of the author(s), the institution information of each author (e.g., Middle East Technical University, Department of Psychology, Ankara, Turkey) should be provided below the names. If authors share are in the same institution, this should be indicated in a superscript form (1). Below the name information, the responsible author of the article is marked with an asterisk (*) and contact information should be given in the format as the following: “corresponding author email: ...". All this information should be centered on the page, with the initial letters of the words capitalized. The title should summarize the main topic of the study. The short title should be less than 50 characters and should appear in capital letters in the upper left corner of each page. The Cover Page must be submitted as a separate Word file, distinct from the Full Text File.

2. Full Text: In the Full Text Word file, care should be taken to ensure that it does not contain any author information (author information is only provided in the Cover File, which is separate from the full text).
a. Turkish Abstract and Keywords: After the centered "Abstract (Öz in Turkish)" title, it should be written without paragraph breaks and should include a comprehensive summary of 150-250 words. Essentially, it should outline the study's purpose, any variables or relationships examined, brief information about the participants, the methodology, and the results. Information not provided in the text should not be included in the abstract, and quotations from other sources should be avoided. Keywords, not exceeding five words or phrases, should be added below the abstract.
b. English Abstract and Keywords: On a separate page from the Turkish abstract, after providing the English title, the English abstract should be provided under the centered heading 'Abstract,' comprising 150-250 words. The English equivalents of the keywords should be added below as 'keywords.'
c. Main Text: On a new page, the article is presented with the Turkish title. Headings and subheadings can consist of various levels defined by the APA 7 Authoring Guidelines.
d. Tables and Figures: If applicable, each should be given separately, with the same numbers given within the text and in accordance with the table and figure rules of APA 7.
e. References: At the end of the article, before the appendices section if any, all cited or referenced sources should be listed in alphabetical order by authors’ surnames. The references should be written in 12-point font with double line spacing.

f. Extended English Summary: In the last part, at the end of the bibliography, on a new page, under the centered "Summary" title, an expanded English version of the article should be provided, consisting of 500-700 words. Emphasis should be placed on having it reviewed by a professional expert. The English title of the article should also be included below the "Summary" title.

Peer Review Policy
a. Double Blind Review Process

Manuscripts evaluations in AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal are conducted within the framework of a double-blind review process. In this context, the identities of the reviewers and authors are kept anonymous throughout the process. In order to ensure anonymity, authors are required to send the cover page containing their credentials (personal information) as a separate file from the article. Also, authors must ensure that their manuscripts are crafted in a manner that does not reveal their identity.

The reviewer evaluation process is carried out within the framework of the steps specified below:

1. The manuscript should be submitted to the journal via the online system (Please create an account on DergiPark, visit journal’s website for detailed information).

2. Editorial board pre-evaluation: Associate Editorial Board Member of the Journal conduct a preliminary evaluation of the submitted manuscript in terms of its quality and content before the peer review process takes place.
3. Assignment of an Editor: An editorial board member, who will oversee the peer review process, is assigned to the article that has passed the associate editorial board's preliminary evaluation.
4. Inviting reviewers for evaluation: The assigned editorial board member invites potential reviewers to the evaluation process based on their research areas/interests. At least two peer reviewers, acknowledged experts in the relevant topic and field of the submissions, are selected by the editor.
5. Reviewers submit their evaluation reports.
6. Informing the authors about the initial decision to publish the article in the journal and sending the referee evaluations to the authors anonymously. All peer review reports are delivered to contributors electronically and anonymously.
7. Controlling whether the author(s) have considered and handled all the reviewer comments with explanations. This is handled by the assigned editorial board member.
8. When necessary, such as in cases where reviewers recommend reevaluation following revisions, the revised manuscript is resubmitted to reviewers for further assessment.
9. Making the final decision on the acceptance of the revised manuscript. Following the review process, the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for determining the publication status of the manuscript submitted to the journal. This decision is informed by the validation of the work, its significance to researchers and readers, feedback from reviewers, and compliance with legal requirements related to copyright infringement and plagiarism. The Editor-in-Chief may seek input from other editors or reviewers when making this decision.

b. Conflict of Interest

The Journal Editorial Board takes necessary precautions to ensure that there is no conflict of interest during the assignment of editors who will be responsible for monitoring the editorial process. Also, if the reviewers identify a potential conflict of interest while evaluating the manuscripts sent to them, they are required to inform the relevant editor and withdraw from their reviewing duties.

c. Disclosure Statement

Ayna Clinical Psychology Journal requests authors of submitted articles to disclose any existing or potential conflicts of interest and to take necessary steps in this regard. Support received from relevant individuals or institutions for a submitted study to our journal should be reported to the Editorial Board. The Disclosure Statement Form, to convey this information, must be signed by all contributing authors  during the article submission process. The Editorial Board, following COPE guidelines, endeavors to address and resolve potential conflicts of interest involving editors, authors, or reviewers.

Publishing Policy and Publication Ethics

a. Publishing Policy

AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal is an open-access journal. Its past issues are accessible online without any charges. In manuscript submissions, after granting publishing rights to AYNA Journal, the author's manuscript is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License. This international license guarantees that other researchers make citations by referencing the relevant source. However, the usage of the articles for commercial gain is prohibited. b. Copyrights

The approval for publication of the manuscripts implies the immediate and free transfer of copyright to AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal. The journal possesses the right to publish the approved manuscripts.
In the "Copyright Transfer Form," the responsible author on behalf of all authors: a) affirms that the submitted article is the original work of the author(s); b) declares that all authors have individually participated in this work and have taken responsibility for all aspects of the study; c) asserts that all authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the submitted article; d) confirms that the article has not been published elsewhere, is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and will not be submitted for publication elsewhere; e) acknowledges and undertakes that the text, figures, and documents in the article do not violate the copyright of others.

c. Publishing Rights

The author(s) retains the right to reproduce and distribute the article, either by mail or electronically. With proper citation to AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal as the original place of publication, permission is granted for the use of any part of the article in another publication. The citation should include the Journal Name, Article Title, Author(s) Name, Volume No, Issue No, and Year.

d. Plagiarism Policy

Ayna Clinical Psychology Journal has a policy to evaluate submitted articles in terms of plagiarism. In order for the evaluation process to begin, submitted articles are first assessed using iThenticate, Turnitin, and Intihal.net programs. Articles found to have utilized other works without appropriate referencing methods or with similarities to existing literature (including the authors' previously published works) are considered to have committed plagiarism. In such cases, the article is either rejected without being included in the evaluation process, or the author(s) are advised to revise the article and resubmit it for review.

e. Publication Ethics

In the event of any ethical violation or suspicion thereof related to manuscripts previously published or submitted for publication in AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal, the Editorial Board takes the necessary actions. In this context, it is the responsibility of the Editorial Board to thoroughly investigate the ethical violation or prevent the publication of manuscirpts identified as having experienced an ethical violation. The Editorial Board reserves the right to request responses from relevant individuals during the investigation of an ethical violation. Within the framework of our journal's publication ethics, any form of support for the occurrence of an ethical violation is not endorsed. Authors whose work is published in AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal may, if necessary, request the withdrawal of their articles or make corrections by contacting the Editorial Board. Necessary corrections, clarifications and explanations regarding the articles are published by the Editorial Board.

f. No Article Processing Charge

There are no article processing charges (APCs) and submission charges.

Authors and Their Responsibilities

a. Authorship of the Manuscript

All authors are required to contribute significantly to the manuscript. Additionally, all authors must agree to the publication of the final version of the manuscript.

b. Errors in Published Works

If authors notice an error in their published work, they are required to notify the editor and collaborate with the editor in correcting the error.

c. Ethical Permission

Starting from 2020, it is expected that manuscripts submitted to the journal will include ethical committee approval.

d. Informed Consent

In any research that involves human participants, it is essential to acquire voluntary and informed consent from the individuals involved (or from the parent or legal guardian for participants under the age of 16). Additionally, the manuscript must include a statement acknowledging the obtained consent.

Participants may agree to take part in a study but may raise objections to the publication of their data in a journal article. Therefore, authors should ensure they obtain explicit consent from individuals for the publication of their data before submitting their paper to our journal, with special attention given to case studies.

e. List of References

Authors are required to indicate the sources they have used in their articles.

f. Financial Support

If there has been financial support for the study, it should be indicated by the authors.

g. Originality

When authors submit a manuscript to the journal, they acknowledge that the article is a wholly original work and has not been published in any other journal.

In terms of Copyrights policy,
The approval of the articles for publication implies the immediate and free-of-charge cession of the copyrights to AYNA Clinical Psychology Journal. The journal has the right to publish the approved articles.
